About the course

This course helps prepare you for the APMG-International Change Management Practitioner qualification. This qualification verifies your ability to apply Change Management guidance in real scenarios, with effectiveness depending on experience, initiative, complexity, and workplace support. Successful candidates will be able to start implementing these approaches with proper guidance.

Duration

This a two-day classroom course.

In addition to the application of Foundation learning, Practitioner course participants will be able to: 

  • Apply key principles to define what needs to be learned by those involved in a change initiative
  • Understand how to provide effective and developmental feedback to support others through change
  • Apply coaching principles when supporting change leaders at every level
  • Demonstrate how to recognise and deal with different sources of conflict during change
  • Consider effective ways to facilitate groups to enable collaboration and co-design of change.
  • Understand ways to sustain change by identifying organisational levers, adoption approaches and reinforcing systems to help embed change in an organisation

 

 

This course will revisit some of the Foundation topics namely:

  • Organisational context and approach
  • People and change
  • Change leadership and teams
  • Stakeholder engagement and communication
  • Work of the Change Manager

and focus on some Practitioner-specific topics:

  • Sustaining change
  • Learning for change
  • Coaching for change
  • Handling conflict in change
  • Facilitation for co-design

This is an intensive two-day course, providing all you need to get through the practitioner examination first time:

  • The cost of the APMG-International Change Management Practitioner examination

Exams are taken online via remote proctor. You will be sent an email invitation approximately two working days prior to course commencement with your ILX exam redemption code. You will be able to book your online exam at a date and time of your choice. You are responsible for booking your own exam. Exam format

You must first pass the Change Management Foundation exam to sit the Change Management Practitioner exam. The exam format for the Practitioner element is as follows:

  • Objective testing based on a case study scenario
  • 5 sections of 16 marks each
  • 40 marks required to pass (out of 80 available) – 50%
  • 2.5 hours duration
  • Restricted open book – The APMG Change Management Study Guide

The Practitioner qualification is aimed at change managers and anyone that wishes to become a change manager. It is also relevant to other staff involved in the change process. This includes:

  • Change managers
  • Organisational development managers
  • Programme managers
  • Portfolio managers
  • Senior managers with responsibility for change within the organisation

You must first pass the Change Management Foundation exam to sit the Change Management Practitioner exam.

Pre-course

Important note regarding pre-course

There is mandatory pre-course work that must be undertaken prior to attending this course.You will be sent full instructions approximately three weeks prior to course commencement. In addition, whilst attending your course there will also be some examination preparation evening work.
