By the end of the workshop, participants will have an understanding of problem-solving, practical innovation, and the tools and techniques needed to effectively approach complex problems and foster innovation in their personal and professional lives.
In this one-day workshop, we will focus on innovation and problem-solving techniques to tackle complex, intractable or seemingly unsolvable problems. You will have the opportunity to bring your own problem to the session and leave with a workable solution. Through an introduction to root cause analysis and systems thinking techniques, you will learn how to identify where the problem truly sits. We will then explore the concept of 'fast fix' methods, such as positive deviance. By finding "positive deviants" i.e. successful outliers, the community can develop new and innovative solutions to complex problems that are tailored to their specific context.
In addition to these problem-solving techniques, we will also cover practical innovation approaches to generate creative ideas that can address your challenges. You will learn how to apply design thinking, brainstorming, and other creative problem-solving methods to come up with effective solutions. Finally, we will discuss solution evaluation techniques to ensure you can select the most promising option for success. You will leave the workshop with a range of practical tools and techniques to help you address complex problems and drive innovation in your work.
