Praxis Framework™ Foundation

This element of the framework combines other standard ‘Bodies of Knowledge’ to outline the basics of project, programme, and portfolio management. It breaks down management into contextual functions, which help create supportive environments, and management functions that are directly focused on achieving goals. Recognising similarities across projects, programmes, and portfolios, Praxis Framework places these on a scale of complexity. Each function is explained in simple terms, with adjustments for complexity, and work seamlessly with the framework’s tools, techniques, and lifecycle structure. 

‘Methods’ are the core processes and documentation models that guide the governance of projects, programmes, and portfolios. This includes a lifecycle-based approach for each, with adaptable processes suited to different contexts and levels of complexity. Projects and programmes share a similar lifecycle and fundamental processes, while portfolios follow a distinct model. The Praxis Framework enables consistent application, which is essential for advancing capability maturity. Additionally, it aligns with the framework’s competency and maturity models, helping define and assess individual and organisational performance. 

‘Competence’ is divided into three groups: delivery, process, and interpersonal competencies that relate to specific areas within the ‘knowledge’ and ‘method’ sections. Each competency aligns with a core function or process and is adaptable to different environments and circumstances, based on the complexity and nature of the project, programme, or portfolio. The framework structures competencies around specific objectives, performance criteria, and required knowledge, creating benchmarks for individual capability.
