Assessment:

We have two types of assessment. For organisations, we diagnose and resolve process issues using best practice capability models. Individual assessments help build high-performing teams using best practice competence frameworks.

Methods +

We are focused on developing structured methodologies based on accredited best practices. We will work with you to develop and document these frameworks to ensure best practice methods are applied consistently across your project management organisation, improving project outcomes.

Development

Having assessed your organisation and developed best practice methodologies, we can deliver workshops that give your teams the essential skills to change and enhance the way that they work. Covering both technical and soft skill areas, all workshops are delivered by our experienced project professionals and professional coaches, either virtually or in person, as suits your organisation.

PMO Implementation

Having guided you through the assessment and development phases, we will work with you to ensure all processes are applied consistently across the project management organisation. The success of the consulting process comes down to its implementation, and we work with the leadership and project teams to ensure all stakeholders understand their roles and are equipped to play their part in moving the organisation forward.

Measure organisational maturity with P3M3

P3M3 is an accredited framework for assessing and benchmarking the maturity of an organisation’s portfolio, programme, and project management practices, performance and current capabilities, including its project teams.

An organisation's maturity is a measure of its ability to implement continuous improvement. The higher up the curve you are as a business determines your ability to deliver repeatable results and ensure predictable project outcomes.

As an accredited PeopleCert Consulting Partner and P3M3 Assessor, we use the P3M3 management tool to diagnose root causes, assess current capability, and understand strengths and weaknesses to develop an improvement roadmap that delivers value.

How it works

The P3M3 framework consists of three distinct models: Portfolio Management (PfM3), Programme Management (PgM3), and Project Management (PjM3). Each model is structured into five maturity levels: Level 1 (awareness of process), Level 2 (repeatable process), Level 3 (defined process), Level 4 (managed process), and Level 5 (optimised process). Within each level, performance is evaluated across seven perspectives: organisational governance, benefits management, stakeholder management, resource management, management control, risk management, and finance management.

These models can be used individually or in combination, providing a foundation for organisations to develop targeted improvement plans. This approach enhances the effectiveness of delivering change and transformation across portfolios, programmes, and projects.

3CAT: The ILX PPM Assessment Tool

3CAT is our competency assessment tool that enables you to baseline the project management competence of individuals, and the capability of your business. It is benchmarked against international best-practice models.

For individuals, the assessment tool identifies knowledge gaps and provides personalised learning plans to fill them. While organisations receive a report that shows where competence improvements need to be made, including strengths and weaknesses.

Assessing individual competence

The 3CAT tool uses global standards for project, programme and portfolio management (3PM). These standards have been designed by project management professionals, for project management professionals and represent the current thinking on best practice within the profession. Using the tool, individuals can identify key areas for personal development. For those overseeing 3PM in their organisation, the 3CAT's organisational report quickly benchmarks team competencies. Accredited ILX consultants also provide additional support and analysis tools to establish performance metrics and develop strategies to close capability gaps.

Organisational Assessment

The 3CAT tool uses best practice standards to help project, programme and portfolio leaders assess strengths and weaknesses across their organisation. Built on the P3M3 Model, 3CAT also allows integration of additional models or relevant areas, such as risk, stakeholder engagement, business process improvement, or organisational change management, to provide specialised insights. This assessment generates a high-impact report, enabling your organisation to confidently plan its capability development approach.
