What you'll learn

Develop essential skills in measuring project performance, managing costs, and predicting schedules on this Earned Value Foundation & Practitioner course. Through a combination of theoretical knowledge building and practical exercises you will learn how to forecast outcomes, address risks proactively and manage project resources.

Planning and budgeting techniques

Effective project management begins with robust planning and budgeting techniques. In this course, you will learn how to establish clear project baselines that define scope, schedule and budget, and can act as a benchmark for project progress. You will explore how to allocate budgets in a way that aligns with your project’s goals and resources, ensuring that funds are distributed strategically across different project phases.

Measuring and monitoring project performance

Learn to track schedule and cost variances by comparing the Planned Value (PV), Earned Value (EV) and Actual Cost (AC) of a project. By understanding how these metrics relate to each other, you can spot deviations early and access whether a project is progressing as planned, whether costs are being controlled, and whether corrective actions are needed.

Forecasting costs and schedules

The course will equip you with the tools to predict future project performance accurately. You will learn to use EVM tools to forecast both costs and schedules, helping you to anticipate challenges before they arise. By mastering these forecasting tools, you will be able to provide accurate projections to stakeholders, keep the project aligned with expectations, and avoid costly overruns or delays.
