About the course

If you’re working in project management, the APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) is a great benchmark on which to build your portfolio of skills. It covers all aspects – ranging from individual assignments to large capital projects. The ever-changing and dynamic nature of today’s projects highlights the need for proactive management of people, the project strategy and approach, along with the application of sound commercial and project management techniques.This is an internationally-recognised knowledge-based qualification that enables you to understand the breadth of skills required to successfully manage a project undertaking.

You must review the learning plan for sets out to related to this course. It provides valuable criteria for this course ranging from pre-requisites to learning objectives. This is important for you to understand the commitment and time required to meet the assessment criteria.

Course format

This course includes:

  • PMQ accredited e-learning (Directed Development)
  • Attendance at eight, three-hour online revision workshop sessions. These sessions are available online once a month and must be booked in advance (Guided Learning)
  • Over 40 hours of additional learning resources to help support exam preparation (Directed Development)

 

Duration

Please be advised that the APM recommends approximately 75 hours preparation time for the PMQ examination.

  • The e-learning is expected to take approximately 40 hours.
  • You must attend a minimum of eight online revision workshops which equates to 24 hours.
  • Access to over 40 hours of additional learning resources to help support exam preparation. 

You must complete all learning prior to undertaking the exam.

By the end of the course, you should:

Exam format

The exam will focus on a candidate’s project management knowledge through four new question types:

  • Multiple response (20 questions × 1 mark each)
  • Select from list (5 questions × 2 marks each)
  • Short response (5 questions × 2 marks each)
  • Long response (10 questions × 5 marks each)

The exam will be 2.5 hours long with an optional 30-minute break. There are 40 questions worth a total of 90 marks.

The course is designed for individuals from both the public and private sector. It is for people working in the management of projects, ranging from individual assignments through to those working on large capital or change projects.Individuals will typically have some pre existing project management knowledge as this is not an entry level qualification.
