Frequently asked questions
Is there a difference between PRINCE2 and MSP?
Yes, the main difference falls in the focus of each methodology. PRINCE2 is centred around project management, where MSP focuses on managing a collection of projects, known as a programme. As such, PRINCE2 teaches a structural method for project managers to follow throughout the course of any individual project, whereas MSP emphasises the importance of strategic alignment, governance and benefits management across multiple projects.
What are the core benefits of combining PRINCE2 and MSP?
By combining these methodologies, individuals and organisations can effectively manage multiple projects within the context of a larger programme. MSP offers a strategic approach, while PRINCE2 provides a more tactical focus. Using the two together means organisations can ensure that their project management approach is aligned with their overall strategy, while still maintaining a focus on delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the required level of quality.
How long will the PRINCE2 and MSP certification last?
Both the PRINCE2 and MSP certifications require renewal within three years of the award date to remain current. There are multiple ways to recertify, find out more on the PeopleCert website.
